This has gotta be one of the coolest cabins I’ve ever seen. Check out that window/garage door? its opens the whole living area and brings the entire lake to the living room. I saw this in a BMW magazine a while back and I’m surprised to find out this cabin is in Idaho of all places! Shit Jquery on my blog is all screwy. Its late so I’ll look into it tomorrow.
Chicken Point Cabin
April 11th, 2011editing
April 11th, 2011I don’t think it matters what school you go to for design. As long as there is a decent design program with teachers that teach design fundamentals while also encouraging student to push themselves to produce better work.
I learned a great deal while I was in school but I also learned a whole lot about design during my first few years working. What i learned during those years could not be taught in class and I was lucky enough to have an art director with a shit load of experience ( including working at Pentagram) that was cool enough to teach me a few of his tricks. I owe all my corporates design knowledge to Mark!
After a few years of working i began to notice my designs getting stale. This is when i took it upon myself to continue my design education on my own. By researching, networking and staying connected to as many talented folk as possible, i was able to land some design projects that challenged and made me rethink my design philosophy in a way that corporate designs could not.
shit i wasn’t planing to write this much. this gets more random as i go but ill keep adding to this when i can organize it better.
no corner is safe
April 11th, 2011I picked up a rounded corner hole puncher and have been going crazy with it. Every piece of paper in my grasp now has its corners rounded. There are two setting options. Small round and large round. i love hearing the punching sound it makes when it creates a cut. Its also very ergonomic. Good job to the folks at Fiskars. I’m now a fan. Looks like they also make preforated trimmers. That could come in handy.
I put together a new photo setup today. It works good for photographing portfolio work or small products. I spoke with a photography friend who also taught at the academy. I was really digging how their portfolio photos were always looking professional so he gave me some advice on how to build a better setup. Right now I’m at 600 watts and I hope to reach at least 1000. I also built a reflector to help bounce off light.
Nylon
April 9th, 2011Got in contact with Nylon yesterday. I am trying to see if they could review some products and give us a good mention in their News Section. We well be sending them a promo package. What would go in a promo package?
Hoodie sample, onesie sample, tee sample linesheet stickers postcards
That would be the basic package, but we need something that really sells the brand. That tells the New Skool story. That makes them think “ok motherfucker we gotta do business because this shit you just sent me just blew my mind!” I’ll have to keep digging on that.
They definitely have there own style of design and photography that speaks “Nylon”. I would have to say the designs over at Mini & Maximus is a lot similar.
This ha gotta be one of the coolest cabins I’ve ever seen. I’ll hav eto try and find out more about who designed this. Check out that window/garage door? its opens the whole living area and brings the entire lake indoors. I saw this in a BMW magazine while back and I’m surprised to find out this cabin is in Idaho of all places! Shit Jquery on my blog is all screwy. Its late so I’ll look into it tomorrow.
