to much caffeine

August 5th, 2009

So much good stuff at ffffound this past week, i can barely keep up.

Here is a tiny bio i put together for myself.

Dennis is a day dreamer, karma believer and dark beer drinker.
When he’s not being foolish or absurd, he enjoys exploring the city,
meeting new people, and getting into crazy adventures.
He is also a recovering hopeless romantic with the occasional relapse,
but he does not let that get in the way of the things he loves.
A few of those things are:
Snowboarding
Trip hop
Architecture
Typography
Photography
Puppies

Creative and driven, he is looking to make a name for himself in the
design industry. He is uncertain of what he will get from this internship,
but is hoping to gain new friends, goodtimes and hopefully something
tangible to add to his design portfolio.

Art Show

August 1st, 2009

Space Gallery had an art show the other night.

Lots of fancy people wearing fancy hats. I wish i had gotten the memo i would have worn my kangol. I have been using my camera phone everyday; learning its capabilities and limitations. It has no flash so I rely on surrounding light to set the photo. it makes taking photos more challenging and fun.

No matter when i drop by, i always find inspiration from this site.

Gonna be spinning some hip hop music tonight at a friend’s birthday party in the Haight. Haven’t practiced on the turntables in a while. I’m going to wing it. This should be fun. =D

My internship at the record label is awesome! I see big things happening with JLR. My personal goal is to get them ready with all the marketing/design work needed before the next WMC 2009 in Miami.

Cover design

July 15th, 2009

Dabbling with Photoshop to make this album cover. Creating a cover for house music is a new challenge for me. To prepare myself, I did research on hundreds of album covers. I hope to make a few more different versions before next week.

Time to take some night photos and i wont be back till my camera is full!

I met up with my friend and his wife last week. Her card is pretty neat. Here is a link to her web page, where you can see the card.

Caught the Renegade Craft Fair this weekend at Fort Mason. Lots of cool stuff there. Prints, t-shirts, handmade goods.

Strong start for Nothing Sacred Magazine. I am looking for more illustrators to help out and contribute work.

If you like curency design your in luck. Dollar ReDeSign Project has anounced a winner.

side project

July 2nd, 2009

Had a interesting talk with Nate One the other day. Although it looks like I wont be able to help him on his website he suggested to lend my talents to the local boutiques and artists of the bay area. This would be a great chance for me to be able to create various types of design work and perhaps even get experimental.

Here is a link to his wife’s site, that he happened to share with me.

Discovery on repeat

June 27th, 2009

Can’t get enough of Discovery.  I’ve had it on repeat all day.

Recently got a package from SF writer and designer, Nate One. Back in the early 90’s I photographed one of his pieces at Psycho City and recently sent it to him. He hooked me up with some dope t-shirts, promotional postcards and a hand written letter on his very own letterhead. To show my appreciation I have selected a stack of old school graffiti flicks taken in SF during the same time, to send him.

hookedup!

Here is the link to his shop where you can get some cool hip hop gear. Check it out! there is something there for everyone, even the kiddies.

I have been designing  a few things lately. Here are some logos I recently finished and a save the date.

kicking myself

June 24th, 2009

i just reformatted my computer and forgot to save my bookmarks for firefox. some how i though they were saved on d: drive. sigh. i know i tend to horde all types of bookmarks; some i never even revisit. However, now i feel like i need them to feel complete. this is gonna take a while to get over. it silly actually. i know by heart all the important urls i need and frequently visit yet i am heartbroken by my act of carelessness. maybe its a sign to move away from the computer and and to not be so dependent. honestly i cant think of a single url that I really need that i cant rememeber

I had quite a collection of bookmarks though. so many design sights for references. tons of tutorials, blogs, and sites for downloading textures, patterns and images.

i guess ill have to start rebuilding my bookmarks again. when did i get so dependent on my computer?
