Wish list

Tuesday, February 28th, 2012

I know less is more and be happy with what you have but I really want these things and believe these things will make me a better person.

1. Camera. Not just any camera but a 5D Mark II. That sounds expensive huh? I guess I could settle for a 60D till I start getting more serious about photography. It’s not like I’m shooting any weddings or gigs coming up and it is good enough for portfolio images and stock photography.

2. Goruck Radio Ruck. $300 dollar bag pack? I sure have expensive taste lol. But only the best to hold my $3,000 camera.  $1,500 camera

3. Kayak. So I could train in my backyard. I sure do have expensive hobbies…maybe this is not as important

4. Road bike. Nothing fancy really. Just a light bike that I can take for duathlons. Even a old ten speed would be cool if I could update the parts. I should start looking in Craigslist for deals.

These things above I can afford if I save so lets start saving.

On another note. Fix this blog. change the CSS already. Damn!

Where is the handmade shit?

Saturday, May 21st, 2011

Went to the Sac State 2011 Spring Show. It was much better than last years. Much much better! Sorry 2010 but like my typography teacher would say “these cats; they have something interesting going on here”. However, I was hoping to see more handmade designs. I saw a lot of good designs but the handmade element was missing or what was once handmade had been digitized and spit out to something no longer organic. But over all it was a good show.

Makes me think about how much handmade work is lacking in my designs.

I can’t remember who told me… graphic design doesn’t happen on the computer? or was it step away from the computer? I guess what I’m trying to say is to not rely on the computer so much when designing. Its just a tool to help with the process and it definitely shouldn’t be the first tool one reaches for when solving a design problem.
